What were the sixties really like?
Extremely turbulent. You had the war in Vietnam, which had a lot of people protesting back in the U.S. There was a big drug culture in the United States. Civil Rights unrest, though this is mostly positive. The negative comes from the reaction of the government towards black protestors. The bay of pigs fiasco happened under Kennedy. Also, the Cuban Missile Crisis, which made many Americans think that a nuclear war was about to break out. Kids had to have bomb drills during school in which they had to hide under their desks. Both Kennedys were inated, MLK Jr and Malcolm X inated too. The Cold war was raging and this caused a lot of people to be paranoid.
