Is Medellin, Colombia a safe place to vacation? I hear it's amazing for getting women so I want to go.?

I speak Spanish so that wouldn't be a problem. Is it safe? If I stay in the downtown area where all the women and clubs are at, can I get a hotel that is walking distance to everything?
