How long does it take for an ingested high caloric meal to get stored as fat?

For instance, if I eat something like a candy bar, pasta, or something else very high in sugars in carbs, and if I don't do sufficient physical activity to burn off those calories, how long before consuming the food would it show up as an extra pound or two? Also, uming that I work out for an hour after eating, I would burn the calories I ingested, but would the carbs and sugars still get stored as fat to some degree?
